About Bustem

Bustem helps e-commerce brands identify and take down copycats, counterfeiters, scammers, and unauthorized sellers stealing their revenue. We scan marketplaces, websites, ads, and domains to detect brand abuse and enforce against it.

Bustem is bootstrapped, profitable, and growing fast: we hit $1M ARR within 60 days of launch and have since scaled to $5M+ ARR with zero outside investors. We’ve enforced takedowns on 100,000+ infringing listings, reclaimed over $1M in lost revenue, and now protect over 120+ brands. Fast-growing startups to global enterprises rely on Bustem to protect their revenue and their brand.

About the Role

We’re hiring a Business Development Representative to help build Bustem’s dedicated outbound engine.

You’ll be the first line of outreach to fast-growing DTC and ecommerce brands that are vulnerable to counterfeiters, copycats, and unauthorized sellers. Your job is to identify strong-fit accounts, get in front of the right decision-makers, qualify pain, and create high-quality opportunities for the closing team.

This is our first dedicated BDR role — a high-ownership opportunity to help build Bustem’s outbound motion from the ground up. You’ll work closely with the founder and sales team to shape the early playbook: targeting, messaging, qualification standards, CRM discipline, handoff process, and KPI tracking.

Our sales team already has real traction, with Account Executives earning against OTE. Now we’re adding a dedicated BDR to help make outbound more repeatable, measurable, and scalable.

This is not a role where you inherit a rigid, fully built SDR machine. It’s a chance to help define what great outbound looks like at Bustem while building a path toward a future closing Account Executive seat.

Who You Are

  • You have 1–3+ years of BDR, SDR, appointment-setting, or outbound sales experience

  • You understand the SaaS outbound playbook: prospecting, list building, sequencing, cold calling, cold email, LinkedIn outreach, qualification, and CRM hygiene

  • You are comfortable with high-volume outbound and do not lose energy after rejection

  • You have worked toward clear sales goals or quotas before

  • You care about quality, not just volume — meetings should be qualified, relevant, and useful to the closing team

  • You are metrics-driven and curious about what improves conversion

  • You are organized and disciplined with CRM data

  • You are coachable, competitive, and hungry to grow

  • You want to help build something, not just follow a pre-written script

  • You are excited by the idea of growing into a closing Account Executive role over time

Nice to Have

  • Experience selling into SaaS, ecommerce, DTC, retail, founder-led companies, or SMB / mid-market businesses

  • ICP experience: comfortable selling to ecommerce brands broadly (DTC / product-based businesses) — not limited to one specific niche or vertical

  • Experience prospecting to founders, owners, operators, marketers, or brand leaders

  • Familiarity with tools like HubSpot, Salesforce, Apollo, ZoomInfo, Sales Navigator, Outreach, Salesloft, or similar

  • Experience building target lists or ICP criteria from scratch

  • Comfort using social channels as part of outbound prospecting

What You’ll Do

Generate qualified outbound pipeline

  • Research and identify DTC and ecommerce brands that fit Bustem’s ideal customer profile

  • Build targeted prospect lists using LinkedIn, company research, ecommerce signals, and relevant prospecting tools

  • Run high-volume, multi-channel outbound across cold calls, email, LinkedIn, and other relevant channels

  • Test messaging, hooks, and outreach angles to understand what resonates with ecommerce founders and operators

  • Qualify prospects before handing them to the closing team

Book and support high-quality meetings

  • Book qualified meetings for Account Executives and the growth team

  • Set clear context before handoff so AEs know why the prospect is worth their time

  • Help maintain strong show rates through clean follow-up, confirmation, and pre-call context

  • Track activity, conversion, meeting quality, and pipeline contribution

Targets

  • Book 8–15+ qualified meetings per month

  • Maintain 50–80+ dials/day and/or 30–50+ emails/day

Help build the BDR function

  • Partner closely with the founder and sales team to define what great outbound looks like at Bustem

  • Help shape the early BDR playbook, including targeting, sequences, call scripts, objection handling, qualification criteria, and KPI tracking

  • Keep CRM data clean, accurate, and useful

  • Share feedback from the market so the team can improve messaging, ICP, and sales process over time

  • Work with sales leadership to influence BDR variable compensation plan structure around the KPIs that best reflect high-quality outbound contribution. We expect variable compensation to be tied to measurable pipeline-building outcomes such as qualified meetings, accepted opportunities, and/or revenue contribution.

What Great Looks Like

In this role, success means you are helping Bustem create a repeatable outbound engine. You are:

  • Creating qualified meetings for the closing team

  • Improving the quality and consistency of outbound pipeline

  • Helping define the KPIs and expectations for the BDR function

  • Keeping CRM data clean and actionable

  • Testing and improving messaging based on real prospect feedback

  • Becoming a credible first touchpoint for ecommerce founders and operators

  • Building a strong foundation for a future Account Executive path

On-Site, New York, NY

Compensation & Benefits

  • $80,000 – $100,000 OTE (On-Target Earnings) — total compensation includes base salary plus variable pay.

  • Daily Lunch & Dinner Stipend

  • Clear path to promotion into a closing (AE) role as the team scales
